Turning the Tide On the Clyde Update

After some consideration we have taken the decision to put our Turning the Tide On the Clyde project on hold for the time being.

The cultural and tourism/recreational sectors continue to face significant challenges due to the residual impact of Covid-19, Brexit and now energy price hikes. In addition to this, the funding environment is also particularly challenging.

The website will continue to be available for new user account registrations and free event listings on the Clyde.Scot web platform. The existing Turning the Tide On the Clyde website will be rebranded and integrated into the Clyde.Scot brand, with all of its current features – including searchable event listings, attractions and feature articles sections – retained and expanded.

The Clyde.Scot web platform will continue to expand gradually as an information portal, however with the need to prioritise our limited resources, CDPI will focus primarily on our core mission of advocating for greater protection of maritime heritage and infrastructure in the River and Firth of Clyde region. Key maritime assets, such as Govan Graving Docks, continue to face significant threat from speculative housing development – which undermines future opportunity for maritime and marine industry growth on the Clyde.

Turning the Tide On the Clyde has been planned broadly as a summer-long programme of curated events and community activities throughout the river and firth of Clyde region. In due course we will be seeking input from key stakeholders into consultation on strategy and plans for long-term development of the programme. The Turning the Tide On the Clyde brand will be developed specifically for this programme.
