The past couple of weeks have been fairly busy for the CDPI team.
As you will perhaps know, New City Vision have now lodged their application for Planning Permission in Principle to build up to 750 flats on the site of Govan’s historic A-listed graving docks.
We have been thoroughly reviewing and scrutinising the application and will issue guidance on submitting objections to Glasgow City Council before the end of next week. We have until 22nd December to submit comments on the planning application to the council so there is plenty of time.
At the moment it is expected the Planning Applications Committee will decide on the application on 20th March 2018. Although the application will be closed for public comment later next month there will still be opportunity to lobby the council and create media awareness around the issues right up to decision day.
Documentary
Last week we held a screening of some of the footage of the documentary we commissioned about Govan Graving Docks in the Pearce Institute in Govan. More than 40 people came along to see the footage – which was well received and followed by a passionate discussion that shows people really care about the future of the docks. The final version of the documentary is almost complete and we will be announcing another screening shortly.
